John Anderson - Systems Architect |
| John has been writing software since high school, when
he programmed one of the world's first PDP-11's. Since then, he earned
a Ph.D. in Zoology at the University of Washington, co-founded Solaster
Software Corporation, wrote WriteNow, the award-winning word processor
for Macintosh, managed the application software department at NeXT
Software, and wrote code for many Silicon Valley companies. After
all this he still loves programming and is excited to be part of the
development team at the Open Source Applications Foundation. |

Grant Baillie - Software Development Engineer |
| Grant Baillie comes
to OSAF by way of NeXT and Apple, where his most recent project has been the Mail client in Mac OS X. At
OSAF he'll be
working in the Services Group on sharing and other projects. In his
spare time, he can be found pedalling up and down various peaks in
the
Bay Area on his road bike. |

Philippe Bossut - Development Manager, Applications
Group |
| Philippe came to programing by way of Geology. He earned a PhD
in Image
Sciences from Ecole des Mines de Paris and went on spending his career
building and delivering desktop applications, some of them you may
have
used (MS Office, Internet Explorer for Mac OS X) and some you may
not
(Live Picture, LivePix). He'll bring to OSAF his passion for the
end
user and his experience in shipping desktop applications that the
rest
of us can use. When not working on computers, Philippe loves nothing
more than spending time with his family, picking up stones and fossils
on his hikes and pondering the deep existential questions his 5 years
old daughter Camille keeps asking him. |
|
| |
Dave Cowen - System Administrator |
| After 10 years providing support and product development for Internet and telecommunications applications at ExecPC, Voyager.net, and the companies that came thereafter though mergers and acquisitions, Dave Cowen came to OSAF to keep the servers humming, the desktops running and the network flowing. Dave is also an avid movie buff, author of the FAQ for Terry Gilliam's film Brazil, and a regular voter in the Skander Halim Memorial Movie Survey. |

| |
Matthew Eernisse -
Web Development Engineer
|
| Matthew brings a somewhat eclectic background to his
position at OSAF -- as an undergrad he studied English Lit
and Biology. After a stint living in Japan, he returned
home to find everyone talking about this 'Internet' thing.
A taste of the World Wide Web led to endless hours in front
of a computer, a master's degree in Instructional Technology,
and a ride on the dot-com startup tain. He worked for seven
years for e-learning companies KnowledgeWire and Eduneering,
building Web-based applications, and watching browsers slowly
get better and better. He places the blame for his career
in programming squarely on the 'View Source' menu option in
Netscape 2. Matthew plays drums and speaks fluent Japanese. |

Jeffrey Harris - Software Development Engineer |
| In an attempt to avoid the inevitable bliss of life in the Bay Area, Jeffrey left the University of Michigan's physics program and joined Dancing Rabbit where he learned a whole lot about building egalitarian community. Now that he's succumbed to the attraction of California, he's ecstatic not to be working for a soulless company and works in the applications team on recurrence, iCalendar interop, and whatever else his comrades-in-coding suggest. In his spare time, Jeffrey sings in Sacred and Profane, tries to remember how to cook for groups smaller than 10, and plays ultimate frisbee. |

Pieter Hartsook - Marketing Specialist |
|
The token marketing guy on the team, Pieter started out as a librarian and became interested in using personal computers in libraries back in the early 80's. He found computers were much more fun than books and he's been involved with them ever since. These days sharing information over the Internet is even more fun than computers. He thinks helping make a successful open-source collaborative "killer app" at OSAF is very cool. |

Randy Letness - Server Developer |
|
| After working with Cosmo at his last employer Randy decided he couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with our great team in a unique organization. He graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and after drawing transistors in his VLSI class decided he would much rather work with software. Since then he has been working in Austin, Texas developing enterprise software using J2EE technologies. Newlywed since January 2006, he says, "My beautiful wife and I are ready to go back to San Pedro, Belize, where we had our honeymoon." He will be working from Austin, TX with the Cosmo team on the many exciting upcoming features. |
|
| |
Ted Leung - Development |
|
| Ted has been swamped by his personal information since
as long as he can remember, and is eager to help Chandler come to
life, so he can feed it all of his stuff. Since its founding in 1999,
Ted has been involved with the Apache Software Foundation's XML project,
serving as its chairman for two years between 2001 and 2003. Ted is
really excited to be working on Chandler and to be involved with another
flavor of open source. He'll be working in the "OSAF Home Office
on Bainbridge Island". |

|
| |
Mike Taylor - Build Tools & Setup Engineer |
| Mike "Bear" Taylor has always
been interested in the work required behind the scenes delivering
an application to users. He officially joins the team at OSAF after
volunteering on the project almost from the beginning. His role as
Build Tools & Release Engineer is to help tame the complexities
of building a product in three distinct environments. |
|
| |
Heikki Toivonen - Development Manager |
| Heikki has been fascinated with structured
documents since the birth of the web as we know it. He spent several
years in providing solutions for large corporations struggling with
document management. Lately software security has become one of his
major interests. He got hooked on Open Source with Mozilla, and has
been an active developer in the project since 1998. He worked for
Netscape before joining OSAF. |
|
| |
Travis Vachon - Software Engineer
|
| Travis comes to OSAF straight from Williams College, a small liberal arts college nestled in the hills of Berkshire County, Massachusetts. His first brush with open source software came from a 2005 Google Summer of Code grant during which he worked with the GNOME desktop project. After senior thesis work related to the Xen Virtual Machine Monitor and an internship with OSAF's Chandler Platform team, he is thrilled be joining OSAF's Cosmo Sharing Server team. In addition to being a full time college student, Travis's pre-OSAF life involved 7 summers as a camp counselor, the last two of which he spent teaching rock climbing and facilitating a ropes course. He hopes to continue this passion by exploring the local climbing from Pine Canyon to Yosemite. |
|
| |
Andi Vajda - Object Persistence
|
| Wouldn't it be nice if we could just persist objects
as we think of them and then get them back as we need them? Yeah,
right. Well, you know there're ways to do this ... Andi's skills in
cross-platform development span the Web, PCs, UNIX workstations and
mainframes. He brings to the development team his skills in object
oriented design, Internet technologies, threaded and distributed systems,
artificial intelligence, language processing and GUI design. |
|
| |
Mimi Yin - UI Designer |
| I love all things to do with information,
especially maps. I think aliased text can be beautiful and believe
that one day, MoMA will add an Interface gallery to their Design wing.
I will be working hard to construct an elegant and intuitive visual
metaphor for Chandler's user interface. When I get stuck, I dance
and move around to get the blood circulating back into my head. My
current visual artist obsession is Sol LeWitt. |
